Artwork Origin
First encounter with this bird was several years back, when a female briefly visited our feeder. I had no idea what it was, and didn’t get a chance to take photos. Tried for several years after that unsuccessfully to locate another one.
Finally tracked down one calling in the leafy trees just off one of the trails at Hollow Rock Nature Park in Orange County NC. The artwork is based on reference photos from this encounter in March 2020. Sadly the photo below is the only one in which the bird is vaguely recognizable. While over-exposed and blurry, it served as a good structure for the eventual artwork.
